A grand GTG was held at POH Hotel, WAH in which about 160 Kohatians along with their families participated. Among the faculty were present, Mr M H Hamdani, Mr Noor Muhammad Bangash and Mr. Ayaz. Amongst the senior Kohatians were present, Lt Gen Sabahat, Vice Admiral Sandeela, Ahmed Rasul Bangash, Khalid Niazi, Wajid Ali Afridi, Some senior
Kohatians from Lahore chapter, Peshawar Chapter, Abbotabad and Bannu area.
SG RWP chapter gave the inaugural address and emphasized on holding of election at chapters level and at the Central body during the forthcoming GTG in OCT/NOV( when decided). The house was apprised that since the present team has successfully completed the term, new members may be elected to continue. The house was informed that present SG will be retiring from PAF service from 16 July and would be with out the office facilities. It was also reiterated that all those who get elected, must put forward an agenda for them with an aim to achieve it within the stipulated time. If they are unable to show signs of achievement by the MID-TERM, the same body may discontinue and fresh elections be held.
The house was accordingly asked to nominate members for the post of PRESIDENT & SECY GENERAL. However, during the speech of the president, he asked the house for the continuation of present SG for the next term and he should elevated to the post of PRESIDENT. The proposal was seconded by Major Akram and Wajid Ali Afridi along with the whole house. SG general agreed to work as president till such time he is in Pindi and in Pakistan. For the new SG, the name of Brig Ibrahim was proposed and again it was supported unanimously for the next term.
Mr. Hamdani also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the efforts of Kohatians. Gen Sabahat then carried out a presentation ceremony in which Gp. Capt Hameed Qureshi was presented a souvenir on successfully completing the 28 yrs of commissioned service and 33 yrs of association with the PAF. The General also presented the faculty members with the memento of POF. In the end sumptuous dinner was served. All those who had come from far off places, were accommodated in the Hotel for over night stay. The whole house appreciated the meticulous arrangements made by the team of General Sabahat and his hospitality.
The newly elected TEAM apprised the house that initiative by some Kohatians have been taken( who have excelled in their fields), to set up a university of management sciences and all those aspirant Kohatians with urge are welcome to join. The detailed modalities would be furnished to all in due course of time. Some the Kohatians in this field include, Dr Imran Hameed, Dr Zahid Saleem, Salamat Shah, Mr Shahid Bajwa & Gp Capt Hameed Qureshi. The project would be initiated to keep the Kohatians spirit alive.
Later on, the SG formulated the strategy for future and also stressed on encouraging the ladies to come forward and participate in future with some good ideas. The gathering was dispersed at mid-nite.
